Welcome to my site! I’m Chuck and I’m a Los Angeles-based photographer with more than 25 years' experience covering events and news.  I started my career shooting high school football for my local paper and soon discovered a passion for news that took me from San Diego two hours north to Long Beach, Calif. I graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from California State University, Long Beach, and worked as a freelancer in the Los Angeles market for several years before venturing across the country to New York, where I took on the role of sports photo editor at Newsday. This gave me a great chance to hone my skills covering multiple World Series, Stanley Cup finals, Super Bowls and Olympics.  After five winters the West Coast called me back and I found myself back in Los Angeles as director of photography for the Torrance Daily Breeze.  I’ve spent the last 20 years covering events around the South Bay and Los Angeles. I also took on the added role of photo editor for the Long Beach Press-Telegram and managed both the Breeze and Press-Telegram's photo staffs until 2018.  I’m an avid outdoorsman and have spent my life hiking, backpacking and rafting through the Sierras and the American Southwest.  I love to travel and have a special fondness for French Polynesia. I have two boys, Chuck a network systems engineer and James a social media content creator.  I hope you enjoy my photographs.
